What is motivation? As defined in Wikipedia, motivation is “the reason for people’s actions, desires, and needs.” In dance and in life in general, motivation plays a huge role, as it helps you work harder to achieve your goals. It helps you keep going, despite the challenges and eventually succeed. Enjoy our favourite motivational quotes in this post!

Work Hard to Be Better

Motivational quotes from one of the best dancers of all time are worth your attention! Mikhail Baryshnikov did not become one of the greatest overnight, he put in the work and wanted it the most in life.

Dance!

One of our most favourite motivational quotes by Lee Ann Womack! So never deny yourself the things you love doing, like dancing!

Time for Yourself

This is one of the motivational quotes that really speaks to a lot of our students. Make sure you come first in your schedule. When you have time for yourself, your growth, your development, you physical and mental health, then you will be a better person for your loved ones too.

Believe in You

Work Hard for Your Dreams

One of the best motivational quotes by John C. Maxwell. Work hard and it will pay off! Always.

Comfort Zone

This motivational quote is especially relevant for those students who are thinking about performing a dance routine, but are afraid to try it out. The most growth happens when you get out of your comfort zone and push your limits. So do that performance, take that first dance lesson, ask her or him for a dance…

Dance Practice Motivation

We cannot stress it enough! This is some true practice motivation. When your body automatically can do the moves and you do not need to think of them, that is when you truly got it and will not get it wrong.

Dancing Adds Value to Your Life

We truly think that there is more to a dance lesson than just learning the dance steps and technique. You get to practice trust, letting go, understanding your partner; you learn to lead, control, take charge, and be in sync. All these things are so relevant and can be applied in real life. When we fix one (dancing), it helps the other (life, relationships, social life, etc.). And we are proud and humbled to be able to touch our students’ lives in this way.

Comparing Yourself

Comparing yourself to others is destructive behaviour. When you try to be like someone else, you lose your own authenticity and even motivation. Moreover, when you hear that inner voice saying that someone else is better, pretties, stronger, more fun, etc., you start putting yourself down and forget about your own strengths. This is not to say that you should not have someone to look up to. Not at all. In fact, it is good to have mentors that can motivate you to strive for the better. However, you have to remember that the only person you should compare yourself is you yesterday and the day before and the day before… That way will truly see your progress and growth.

Setting Big Goals

We love this motivational quote by Michael Scott. Set the bar high for anything you do because the bigger your dreams are the more you can achieve and grow.
